Should you buy the Zonlai 22mm F1.8
Updated: Oct 1
Yes! Go buy the Zonlai 22mm F1.8 because it's an affordable and well built lense that does a great job. If you enjoy looking at charts then there maybe "better" alternatives but this lense does the job with few shortcomings. Read on....
A month or so ago I decided to add the Fujifilm 23mm f2 to my collection and as always I turned to YouTube to check out the reviews and photographers experiances.
It was then I came across the Zonlai 22mm 1.8 which although I had not heard anything about before seemed to get some pretty solid feedback. The lense was available on ebay.co.uk for £114.00 which is about 25% of the cost of the Fujifilm alternative and at that price I thought I would give it a go.
First impressions were really positive. The lense cam nicely boxed, felt solid and well constructed and generally had a nice feel to it. It's compact and is nicely balanced on my Fuji X-E3.
I personally don't have a problem with manual focus lenses and I have several vintage Canon, Nikon and Olympus lenses that I use on my X-E3 without a problem. Yesterday I went for a quick walk to try out the Zonlai and I'm really pleased with the image quality.
I'll post more images at some point but if your looking for a budget alternative that wont break the bank this is one to consider.
